JD Mart vs IndiaMART: Which B2B Marketplace Fits Your Business?

Short answer

Both are catalogue-and-enquiry B2B marketplaces where sellers list products and buyers send enquiries or post requirements. IndiaMART, running since 1996, is the larger and more transparent of the two: it publishes weekly BuyLead allocations by plan and reported 218,000 paying suppliers in June 2026. JD Mart, launched by Just Dial Ltd in 2021, offers RFQs, a seller dashboard and an escrow option but publishes no seller price list. Neither is better for everyone; choose by where your buyers search and what your own test shows.

Two different histories

IndiaMART is one of India's oldest internet businesses. It has been building its supplier directory since the 1990s and became the first online B2B marketplace in India to list publicly (reference (opens in a new tab)). Its strength is depth: years of supplier catalogues across industrial categories, and a mature system for routing buyer requirements to paying sellers.

JD Mart is a newcomer by comparison. Justdial announced it in 2020, IndiaMART sued over alleged copying of its category tree and supplier data, and JD Mart launched in February 2021 (Inc42 (opens in a new tab), The CapTable (opens in a new tab)). Its strength is the network around it: Justdial's local search business, which reported 56.1 million active listings and 639,200 active paid campaigns in June 2026 (Business Today (opens in a new tab)). Those figures are company-wide, not JD Mart's own.

Where JD Mart stands out

  • Payment protection. JD Mart documents escrow that is free for buyers; we found no equivalent in IndiaMART's sources we reviewed.
  • Quote comparison built in. Get Best Price sends one request to several sellers at once.
  • A growing platform with momentum. Justdial grew active paid campaigns 3.5% year on year to 639,200 in June 2026, and launched new JD Mart seller packages (Business Today (opens in a new tab)), while IndiaMART's paying-supplier count dipped in the same period (Inc42 (opens in a new tab)).
  • Potentially less crowded categories. IndiaMART reports 218,000 paying suppliers competing for its enquiries. On JD Mart, sellers in many categories may face fewer paid competitors. Check your own category by searching it as a buyer.
  • The Justdial network. Sellers already using Justdial can add a B2B channel with the same company.

The biggest difference: how leads are delivered

IndiaMART is unusually explicit about lead allocation. Its help centre explains that a BuyLead is a buyer's purchase requirement, filtered by IndiaMART and shared with suppliers, and it publishes a weekly allocation table by plan. When we checked (page dated 29 March 2026), the monthly Mini Dynamic Catalog received 7 BuyLeads a week plus 1 daily bonus, the annual MDC 10 plus 1, rising to 70 plus 2 for the top Industry Leader tier (BuyLead allocation (opens in a new tab)). Unused BuyLeads don't carry over.

JD Mart's model, as described publicly, centres on buyers contacting sellers directly from catalogues and on RFQ and Get Best Price requests that reach sellers in a category (official (opens in a new tab), FAQ (opens in a new tab)). We did not find a published allocation schedule. That doesn't mean JD Mart delivers fewer leads; it means you can't estimate volume from public information and must ask for it in writing.

Competition among paid sellers

IndiaMART's size cuts both ways. More buyers usually means more paid competitors chasing the same requirement. In its June 2026 quarter IndiaMART reported 218,000 paying suppliers (release (opens in a new tab)). Inc42 reported that IndiaMART groups paid plans into Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, that Silver subscribers make up about half of paying suppliers but around a quarter of subscription revenue, and that improvements in buyer quality had benefited higher-tier customers more (Inc42 (opens in a new tab)). The same report linked recent declines in the paying-supplier count to elevated churn among Silver subscribers.

For an entry-level seller, that is a meaningful signal: on IndiaMART, the cheapest plans may compete at a disadvantage against higher tiers for the best enquiries. On JD Mart, competition per category may be lighter in some categories, but there is less published information to judge it. The practical test is the same on both: search your own product as a buyer and count how many complete, paid-looking listings appear.

Pricing: what can be confirmed

Neither platform publishes a complete public price list in the official sources we checked. IndiaMART names its paid services (Mini Dynamic Catalog, TrustSEAL, Maximiser, IM Star, IM Leader and IM Industry Leader) and says its sales team will discuss them (paid services (opens in a new tab)). A third-party blog lists the MDC at ₹3,000 a month or ₹28,000 a year (Refrens (opens in a new tab)); IndiaMART hasn't confirmed those figures on the pages we reviewed, so treat them as indicative only.

For JD Mart, the only published fee we found is the 1% escrow handling fee charged to sellers (FAQ (opens in a new tab)). Justdial's packages generally come as monthly or annual subscriptions (Annual Report 2023-24 (opens in a new tab)), and in July 2026 it introduced a Super Sixer Pack for B2B sellers (Business Today (opens in a new tab)). See JD Mart pricing for sellers for the questions to ask.

For buyers: does the choice matter?

Less than for sellers. Searching both costs nothing, and many suppliers list on both. What matters is verifying the specific supplier you choose: GSTIN, samples, written quote and safe payment terms. JD Mart's escrow option is a practical advantage for first orders with an unknown seller. IndiaMART's larger catalogue may surface more options in niche industrial categories. Our guide on how to verify a B2B supplier applies to both.

Which should you choose?

IndiaMART may suit you better if

  • you want a predictable minimum of allocated leads you can plan sales staff around;
  • you sell industrial or niche products where an established supplier directory matters;
  • you value published plan structures for budgeting;
  • you can afford a mid or upper tier, since entry tiers face stronger competition.

JD Mart may suit you better if

  • you already work with Justdial and want a B2B catalogue alongside your local listing;
  • you want built-in escrow and order tools for transactions with new buyers;
  • your buyers compare several quotes, so fast RFQ responses can win business;
  • your category looks less crowded on JD Mart when you search it as a buyer.

Use both if

you can staff enquiry response for two channels. Run them in parallel for the same 90 days, log every lead with its source, and compare cost per qualified lead. That comparison, from your own category, beats any general verdict, including ours.

How to run a fair side-by-side test

  1. Same catalogue on both

    List identical products with identical detail, so differences come from the platform rather than your listings.

  2. Comparable spend

    Choose packages of similar cost and term, ideally monthly.

  3. One lead log

    Record source, product, quantity, city, reply time, qualified yes/no and outcome for every lead. See lead quality and ROI.

  4. Same response standard

    The same person answers both with the same target reply time.

  5. Decide on cost per order

    Spend ÷ orders won, against gross profit per order, at day 90.

Key takeaways

  • IndiaMART is larger and publishes lead allocations; JD Mart offers escrow and quote-comparison tools.
  • Neither publishes full prices, so compare written quotes on cost per qualified lead.
  • Entry-level IndiaMART tiers face strong competition; JD Mart's lead volumes are less visible.
  • A parallel 90-day test in your own category is the most reliable way to decide.

Frequently asked questions

Is JD Mart cheaper than IndiaMART?

We can't say from public information, because neither publishes a full price list in the official sources we reviewed. Get written quotes for the same categories and cities and compare cost per qualified lead after a test.

Which has more buyers, JD Mart or IndiaMART?

IndiaMART reports platform-level figures, such as 26 million unique business enquiries in Q1 FY27. Justdial reports company-wide figures that are mostly local search, not JD Mart alone. There is no like-for-like comparison, so we don't rank them on audience size.

Can I list on both JD Mart and IndiaMART?

Yes. Nothing in the sources we reviewed prevents listing on both, and running them side by side is the most reliable way to compare.

Which is better for a new small seller?

Start with complete free listings on both, then test one paid plan on monthly terms. On IndiaMART, check how much competition entry tiers face in your category before choosing a plan.
