Review JD Mart

Is JD Mart Reliable? A Practical Trust Check for Buyers and Sellers

Short answer

JD Mart is a legitimate platform operated by Just Dial Ltd, a company listed on Indian stock exchanges, and it offers trust tools such as a JD Verified and Trusted stamp and an optional escrow payment mode. That does not make every seller on it reliable. As on any open B2B marketplace, check each supplier's GSTIN, ask for samples or a small trial order, and use escrow or staged payments until the relationship is proven.

Two different questions: the platform and the people on it

"Is JD Mart reliable?" usually hides two questions. The first is whether the platform itself is genuine. The second is whether the supplier or buyer you meet there will keep their word. The first has a fairly clear answer; the second can only be answered one counterparty at a time, and no marketplace, including JD Mart, IndiaMART or TradeIndia, can answer it for you.

On the first question, the evidence is straightforward. The apps are published by Just Dial Ltd (App Store (opens in a new tab)), and JD Mart appears in the company's stock-exchange filings as its launched B2B marketplace (Q2 FY24 press release (opens in a new tab)). Just Dial is a listed company, controlled by Reliance Retail Ventures since September 2021 (investor relations (opens in a new tab)). A listed company has disclosure obligations, auditors and a reputation at stake, which is a meaningful baseline of legitimacy. It does not guarantee that every listing on the platform is honest.

Taken together, there is no credible basis for calling JD Mart itself a fake or a scam. The more useful question is how to use it safely.

Why JD Mart earns trust

JD Mart is backed by one of the most established internet companies in India. Just Dial is listed on the stock exchanges, has been controlled by Reliance Retail Ventures since 2021, and reported a profitable June 2026 quarter with ₹6,022 crore in cash and investments (JM Financial market news (opens in a new tab)). It operates at large scale: 56.1 million active listings and 639,200 active paid campaigns (Business Today (opens in a new tab)). On top of that corporate strength, JD Mart offers buyer-friendly protections: free escrow, a verification stamp, direct contact with sellers and 24x7 support. Few Indian B2B platforms document such a complete set of trust tools.

Reading the escrow terms carefully

Escrow is the most important protection JD Mart offers buyers, so its limits deserve attention. According to the FAQ, all orders start as escrow orders, but a seller who is not onboarded on escrow can change the payment mode to direct. The FAQ also says buyers do not get an option to cancel after the initial payment, and that if cancellation is requested, the initial amount is settled to the seller (JD Mart FAQ (opens in a new tab)). In other words, escrow reduces the risk of paying and receiving nothing, but it does not make the initial payment refundable on demand. Agree specification, delivery date and acceptance terms before paying anything.

The common risks on any B2B marketplace

Open marketplaces let a very large number of businesses list themselves. That openness is what makes them useful, and it is also where most problems come from. The patterns below are not specific to JD Mart; they are what careful buyers watch for everywhere.

  • Impersonation: someone uses a real company's name, photos or GSTIN but gives their own phone number and bank account.
  • Bait pricing: a price well below every other quote, used to collect an advance.
  • Trader posing as manufacturer: not fraud in itself, but it changes price, MOQ and quality control.
  • Quality drift: a good sample followed by a weaker bulk delivery.
  • Unclear terms: price without GST, freight or delivery date stated, leading to disputes later.

How to read JD Mart reviews and ratings

Searches for "JD Mart reviews" return three different things, and they shouldn't be weighed the same way:

  • App-store ratings reflect experience with the app: speed, crashes, notification volume, sign-up friction. Read the recent written reviews on Google Play (opens in a new tab) and the App Store (opens in a new tab) rather than relying on the average star figure, which mixes buyers, sellers and years-old feedback.
  • Ratings on individual sellers tell you about that supplier only. Look for a reasonable number of reviews spread over time, with specifics such as order size and delivery.
  • Blog and forum posts are anecdotal. Useful for spotting recurring complaints, such as about sales calls or lead relevance, but not proof either way.

B2B Review does not publish a star rating for JD Mart. We haven't run a controlled test of lead volume or buyer outcomes, and a score without that evidence would be invented. Our review methodology explains this policy.

Checklist before your first order from a JD Mart supplier

  • Confirm the supplier's GSTIN and legal name on the official GST taxpayer search (opens in a new tab), and check that the name matches the invoice you'll receive.
  • For companies and LLPs, check registration details on the MCA portal (opens in a new tab).
  • Make sure the phone number and email belong to the business, not just to the person you are chatting with.
  • Ask for a sample or a small trial order before committing to the full quantity.
  • Get a written quotation with specification, MOQ, price basis (ex-works or delivered), GST, delivery date and payment terms.
  • Prefer escrow or a staged payment (part advance, balance on delivery or inspection) for the first transaction.
  • Video-call the facility or visit, especially for custom or high-value orders.
  • Be cautious of prices far below the market, pressure to pay quickly, or requests to pay a personal account.

Matching your checks to the size of the order

Not every purchase needs a factory visit. Scale your checks to what you could lose.

Suggested checks by order value (our recommendation)
First-order valueMinimum checksPayment approach
Small, easily replacedGSTIN check, written quote, recent seller reviewsEscrow where offered
MediumAdd company registration check, sample, video callEscrow or part advance with balance on dispatch
Large or customAdd references, facility visit or third-party inspectionStaged payments tied to milestones; consider a written contract

Note: The thresholds depend on your business; set them in rupees that make sense for your cash flow.

Reliability from the seller's side

For sellers, reliability usually means lead quality: are enquiries genuine, relevant and from buyers with real budgets? That varies by category, city and how well the catalogue describes what you sell. Neither Justdial nor any independent source we found publishes JD Mart lead-quality data, so the honest answer is to measure it yourself. Our guide to B2B lead quality and ROI gives a simple tracking sheet.

Sellers also face their own counterparty risks: buyers who ask for credit and do not pay, or competitors posing as buyers to collect price lists. Escrow helps with the first; asking for company details before sending full price sheets helps with the second.

Reasons for confidence

  • Operated by a listed company with public filings
  • Verification stamp and escrow option available
  • Direct contact lets you question sellers before paying
  • Active investment in the platform, including new seller packages

Reasons for caution

  • Open marketplace: anyone can list, so seller quality varies
  • Verification criteria not published in the sources we reviewed
  • Escrow initial payments are not cancellable on demand
  • No independent public data on lead quality or dispute outcomes

Signs a JD Mart listing is trustworthy

Positive signals worth looking for on any supplier listing: a GSTIN matching the business name, real photographs of premises and stock rather than stock images, a specific address, prices and MOQs that are consistent with other sellers, a reasonable number of recent and specific buyer ratings, and quick, detailed answers to technical questions. No single signal proves reliability, but several together make a good shortlist.

Our verdict

JD Mart is a legitimate platform, and its escrow option gives buyers a protection that not every Indian B2B marketplace documents. It is as reliable as the counterparty you choose and the checks you run. Use the stamp to shortlist, verify identity independently, start small, and keep every term in writing. Frequently asked questions

Is JD Mart a fake or scam website?

No evidence suggests the platform itself is fake: it is operated by Just Dial Ltd and referenced in the company's exchange filings. Fraud risk on any marketplace comes from individual bad actors, so verify each counterparty.

Does the JD Verified stamp mean a supplier is safe?

It is a positive signal, but the public criteria were not available in the sources we checked. Combine it with GSTIN checks, samples and safe payment terms.

Can I cancel a JD Mart escrow order?

Justdial's FAQ says buyers do not get an option to cancel after the initial payment, and that if cancellation is requested, the initial amount is settled to the seller. Confirm current terms in the app before paying.

What should I do if a JD Mart supplier doesn't deliver?

Raise it through JD Mart's support channel with your order details and written records, and keep all chats and quotes. If you paid outside escrow, contact your bank promptly; for fraud, file a complaint with local cyber-crime authorities.
